North Darfur’s Beni Hussein tribe sacks deputy chief

Leaders of the Beni Hussein tribe in North Darfur unanimously decided to dismiss the appointed deputy chief earlier this week.
Adam Abdelkareem, appointed as deputy chief of the Beni Hussein native administration by the North Darfur government years ago, was relieved of his position at a meeting of Beni Hussein chiefs, omdas, sheikhs, and other representatives in El Sareif Beni Hussein on Monday.
“We have notified the governor of North Darfur and his government of the decision via a formal letter,” omda Mousa Fideil Ahmed, a prominent Beni Hussein native administrator, told Radio Dabanga.
He explained that Abdelkareem had tried to instigate several internal conflicts within the tribe’s leadership. “When he began to meet with outlaws in the state and incite our youngsters to go to war, we convened the meeting to decide on his position.”
