Thirteen (13) Omdas and Sheiks from Gureida, South Darfur, expressed their disagreement on the decision issued by governor Abdul Hamid Kasha to establish an administrative unity in Sadoon, the region of the Falata tribe. In a memorandum published to the leaders of the National Congress Party (NCP) and the presidency of South Darfur, they protest against the placement of this area under the authority of the state.

From his side, the king of Gureida Mohammed Adam Elmalik, to which the village belonged, condemned the resolution to place Sadoon under government control. As he warns of the potential new conflicts that might arise in the area, he calls on the concerned sides to nullify the decision.

On the other hand, one of the assistant leaders of the Falata tribe expressed his relief about the decision, saying it would end the ongoing conflicts in the area. He furthermore denied the existence of any link between the resolution and the Falata’s support of the governor during the previous elections.
