NCP candidates now wanted fugitives for Darfur market scam

Two National Congress Party figures in El Fasher are wanted as fugitives from the law as part of the investigation of the recent Souq Al Mowasir scam. The high prosecutor in El Fasher ordered wanted posters with the pictures of Adam Ismail and Mousa Alsadiq posted in public places. The defendants are parliamentary candidates for the NCP. They are accused of having launched a money-generating scheme in which they sold goods at higher than market value but were paid with money vouchers rather than hard cash. The scam lasted for several months without complaint but once it started to unravel the NCP candidates disappeared.Mustafa Daoud Mohamed Ibrahim, an independent candidate, today asked the elections commissioner to remove the fugitives from consideration in the elections results.
