A government-backed militia in Kordofan protested to the government. The Peace and Reconstruction Brigade (Misseriya wing), which is managed by the Intelligence and Security Service’s special operations department, threatened to break with the ranks of the armed forces. The group has a strength of 2507 officers and suldiers. The soldiers complained yesterday to the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Al Bashir, and to politicians in the central government who come from the Misseriya tribe. They pointed out that since 2005 have been neglected, and excepted from the merger with the regular forces that took place in that year. The officers and soldiers protested against the assignment of their commander, Colonel Ahmed Al Nagi, to the regular forces. They also said they remained on the move continuously between Al Miram in southern Kordofan and assignments in Khartoum since March 2008 until today.
