Militiamen assault displaced, plunder shops in Darfur

Three displaced women sustained various injuries in an attack by militiamen near Shangil Tobaya camp in North Darfur’s Tawila locality on Saturday. In Central Darfur, a group of gunmen pillaged the market of Nierteti in Central Darfur.

Three displaced women sustained various injuries in an attack by militiamen near Shangil Tobaya camp in North Darfur’s Tawila locality on Saturday. In Central Darfur, a group of gunmen pillaged the market of Nierteti  in Central Darfur.

“Those Janjaweed intercepted the women, aged 18, 29 and 32 years, when were on their way to collect firewood north of the camp. They severely beat them,” Omda Mukhtar Bosh, coordinator of the Tawila camps for the displaced reported to Radio Dabanga.

He said that the women are currently being treated at the health centre of the camp. The incident has been reported to the police of Shangil Tobaya.

A group of gunmen plundered seven shops at Nierteti market on Saturday evening, one of the victims told Radio Dabanga.

“The estimated value of the stole goods is SDG155,000,” he reported.
