An eyewitness reported to Dabanga that a group of militiamen in a Land Cruiser stormed the barracks. “They caught the military policemen off guard, disarmed them, and beat them severely, after which they took their fellow militiaman with them.

“When they left, they fired wildly in the air. Hafiz Azrag Jallab and a man called Badreldin were hit by stray bullets,” he added.

Beating

On the same day, Zakaria Mohamed Ali was assaulted by gunmen on his return to the Sibak El Khel camp for the displaced, northwest of Kabkabiya, after collecting firewood.

“They beat him with batons on his head and body until he lost consciousness,” a camp elder told Dabanga. “He is now being treated in Kabkabiya Hospital.”
