Authorities in Saloum, in the eastern Sudanese Red Sea state, on Thursday burned a record quantity of drugs seized in Port Sudan.

The 47 sacks of narcotic pills, worth about SDG 354 million ($58,730,800), were intercepted by customs at the main Sudanese harbour in April last year. The container had been shipped from Lebanon.
