A group of militiamen abducted a resident of El Salam camp for the displaced in Kabkabiya locality on Saturday. In a separate incident, a boy was shot in his leg during an attack on firewood collectors near Kabkabiya town.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, an El Salam camp elder reported that four members of a government militia, wearing military uniforms, stormed the camp at about 10am. “They seized Abdallah Hamed Abdallah (45) at gunpoint, and took him to an unknown destination.”

On Saturday too, militiamen assaulted a group of four displaced women and their children, who were collecting firewood in Wadi Beranjango, north of Kabkabiya.

“Four militiamen riding on donkeys, seized one of the women with the intention to rape her. When she resisted, one of them, wearing a military uniform, fired at her, hitting her 14 year-old son, Mohamed Ahmed, instead,” the camp elder said.

“He was taken to a hospital in Kabkabiya with three bullets in his leg.”
