IDPs complain of exposure to cold weather in North Darfur

Residents living in internally displaced persons (IDPS) camps in North Darfur have complained from exposure to the cold wave of weather that has recently hit the province. A source told Radio Dabanga that many families are spending whole nights not sleeping but rather gathering at fires. Others huddle together for heating, as a result of shelters being built of straw, cardboard and worn out tarpaulin in addition to a lack of blankets and firewood. The source said children had stopped attending school due to most of their energy being expended keeping warm during winter. He appealed to humanitarian organizations to provide blankets and food to camp residents and support them in acquiring wood and gasoline for heating.
