Hundreds of Sudanese students evicted from Omdurman dormitory

On Wednesday evening, 576 students of the University of Khartoum were evicted from the dormitory of the university’s Faculty of Education in Wad Nubawi without prior notice.
Following an order from the National Students Welfare Fund, security forces stormed the boarding house, and told the students to leave as soon as possible.
“We were surprised to receive an eviction order without any notification in advance,” a student told Radio Dabanga.
“They told us that the estate was to be returned to its owner and that we had only two hours to evacuate the building. Luckily, a real estate owner offered us a roof above our head for a few days at El Shuhada district central Omdurman.”
He described the step as “irresponsible, as it did not take the students’ rights into account”.
