Hospital director robbed by militiamen in Central Darfur

A vehicle carrying the medical director of Nertiti hospital was ransacked by militiamen after it broke down in Central Darfur. A passenger told Radio Dabanga that the vehicle was on its way from Nertiti to the State capital Zalingei when it broke down. While the passengers, including Dr Mohamed Omar Yousef, waited for it to be repaired, four militiamen approached, threatened them and ordered them to lie on the ground. Witnesses said the men stripped the doctor and passengers of everything of value, including a laptop computer and SDG1,500 ($340) in cash. They then burned and destroyed all the medical documents the doctor had. One young passenger managed to flee to Nertiti and report the incident.
