Health services decline in eastern Sudan’s Aroma

People living in Aroma locality in eastern Sudan’s Kassala state complain about declining health services and the lack of qualified medical personnel in rural hospitals.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Ahmed Sidna from Aroma reported that there are no adequate doctors and specialists in the two rural hospitals in the locality.
“For larger operations and caesarean sections, we need to go to the main Kassala Hospital,” he said. “Transport from Aroma to Kassala takes at least two hours in an ambulance.”
“Moreover, there are no anaesthetists or blood banks in the rural hospitals the power generators are not well maintained either.”
