Gunmen kill five in roadside attack in North Darfur

Five people died in an attack on the road to El Fasher on Sunday. Sources said on Sunday that 17 were wounded in the incident but Radio Dabanga now corrects this report to say that that five died in addition to a number being seriously wounded or injured. One source reported that robbers fired on two vehicles as they travelled from Tina village near Tawila toward El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Another source, however, indicated that the attackers were not merely robbers and they wore masks to hide their face. An earlier report had indicated that the passengers were defrauded investors of the Mawasir scam travelling to El Fasher – where a protest took place the same day — but that could not be confirmed. The injured were taken to El Fasher hospital to receive treatment.
