Gunmen abduct lorry driver in Sudan’s Omdurman

Unknown gunmen kidnapped a lorry driver from El Shaabi market in Omdurman last week. Policemen freed an abductee in West Darfur.
The brother of the abductee in the twin-city of Khartoum told Radio Dabanga that three armed men wearing civilian clothes intercepted Khatir Adam Ishag at the Shaabi market on Thursday evening.
“They used a white van with windows painted white as well. They ordered Khatir to embark the van at gunpoint, and left with him to an unknown destination,” he said.

Unknown gunmen kidnapped a lorry driver in Omdurman last week. In West Darfur, an abductee was freed by policemen.

The brother of the abductee told Radio Dabanga that three armed men wearing civilian clothes intercepted Khatir Adam Ishag at the Shaabi market in Omdurman on Thursday evening.

“They used a white van with windows painted white as well. They ordered Khatir to embark at gunpoint, and then left to an unknown destination,” he said.

“We searched for him everywhere .. We passed at all the police departments and offices of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), including the Economic Security offices. In vain however.”

Awad Adam Ishag called on the authorities “to act and find him”.

In the East Darfur capital of Ed Daein, the police announced the release of Kamil Mohamed Bashir who was abducted by gunmen from his house at El Sikka El Hadid district a week ago.

The kidnappers and their vehicle transporting the victim were captured in El Geneina in West Darfur on Friday.
