A basic school student of Rwanda camp for the displaced in Tawila locality, North Darfur, was raped by six men on Sunday. In East Jebel Marra, members of a government militia gang raped three young firewood collectors on Monday.

The coordinator of the Tawila camps, Omda Mukhtar Bosh, reported to Radio Dabanga that “six Janjaweed riding on camels” ambushed a group of young women and girls of the Rwanda camp, while they were collecting firewood west of Tawila town.

“They seized a basic school pupil, and raped her alternately for four hours,” he said, adding that the victim was transferred to a hospital in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur “in critical condition”.

Bosh added that the pupil was transferred to El Fasher in a difficult condition for treatment.

Members of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) raped three young women in the area north of Katur.

A relative of one of the victims told Radio Dabanga that the women, on their way to collect firewood in a nearby valley, were intercepted by a group of RSF militiamen in three vehicles.

“Five men jumped from the vehicles, and repeatedly raped all three,” she said.
