Kidney failure

The federal Health Ministry reported that about 6,500 people are suffering from kidney failure in the country. Head of the National Centre for Kidney Diseases and Surgery, Mohamad Merghani, pointed out that the total number of kidney transplant operations has risen to 300 a year. “There are 70 dialysis centres in the country.”

Blood centres

Ten water purification systems were distributed to state-run blood centres in Sudan on Wednesday. An official of the Ministry of Health told Sudanese journalists: “The new stations will be distributed to the hospitals of El Fasher, Kosti, El Obeid, Sennar, Umbadda, and El Nou Hospital in the Sudanese capital.

“In addition three water treatment systems were distributed to the Turkish hospital centre in Nyala, Wed Haboba centre in El Gezira and El Tadamon centre in Sudan's Northern state.”

The official predicted that the new machines would reduce the patients' dialysis deficits.
