Farmers kill two armed attackers in East Darfur firefight

A group of unidentified gunmen who allegedly opened fire on farmers in East Darfur on Friday lost two of their comrades when the workers retaliated.Witnesses said that farmers working on their peanut harvest in Kideda, Abu Karinka locality, returned fire in an offensive, killing two of the attackers while the others fled.One of the workers told Radio Dabanga the region is very tense, noting they asked local authorities to protect them and contain the situation.File photo by Albert González Farran/Unamid

A group of unidentified gunmen who allegedly opened fire on farmers in East Darfur on Friday lost two of their comrades when the workers retaliated.

Witnesses said that farmers working on their peanut harvest in Kideda, Abu Karinka locality, returned fire in an offensive, killing two of the attackers while the others fled.

One of the workers told Radio Dabanga the region is very tense, noting they asked local authorities to protect them and contain the situation.
