Farmer murdered in South Darfur

A resident of El Salam camp for the displaced near Nyala, capital of South Darfur, was shot dead on Saturday.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Sheikh Mahjoub Tabaldiya of El Salam camp said that a group of herdsmen drove their camels and cattle onto farms in the area of Koso, “three kilometres southwest of El Salam camp on Saturday morning”.
The herders also attempted to rape a number of women in the area, the sheikh reported.
“When displaced farmer Mahmoud Haroun and his uncle Hamid confronted the assailants, the herders shot at them, killing Haroun instantly. His uncle miraculously survived,” he said.
