Bandits killed one man and assaulted displaced people in three incidents in South Darfur on Sunday and Monday.

Six gunmen riding camels attacked Ahmed El Bashir Abaker south of Kass on Sunday night. He was at his farm in El Dunga with three others at the time of the attack, his father reported to Radio Dabanga.

“The militiamen asked them to hand over their possessions, money and mobile phones. They instantly shot my son dead when they refused,” he said.

The gunmen took the money, phones, and luggage the victims carried and fled in a northern direction.

Robbery in Gireida

A displaced man was injured in an armed robbery in Gireida locality on Sunday. An activist from the area told Radio Dabanga that the three robbers shot Hamdi Mohamed Adam in Saadoun, east of Gireida, when he resisted to hand over his phone. The attackers, wearing military uniforms, robbed the phone of the wounded Adam and left.

On Monday, four men in military uniforms, riding camels, beat four displaced people from camp Abyed with sticks. The displaced had ventured out to collect firewood at Khor Shanga, 7 km south of Gireida. The attack caused them various injuries.
