Egyptian authorities plan to deport four Sudanese refugees. The refugees were moved from Al Qanatir Prison to a compound of the Interior Ministry in preparation for their deportation to Sudan. They had spent more than a year in prison. Radio Dabanga learnt the names of three of the four men: Abu Gasim Ibrahim Al Hajj, Faisal Mohamed Harun, and Adam Yahia Abdallah Khalil. All four refugees are registered with the UN Refugee Agency in Cairo and have cards confirm that. That would make any potential deportation contrary to the law, according to an human rights activist interviewed by Radio Dabanga.

The activist, who was speaking from Cairo, appealed to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to intervene to halt the deportation proceedings. He also called on the Egyptian government to reverse its decision and called on all human rights organizations and activists in Egypt to intervene to pressure the government to stop the deportation.
