Defrauded investors ambushed on road to El Fasher

A group of defrauded investors coming to El Fasher to seek to recovery of their investments were injured in an armed robbery yesterday. Seventeen (17) were injured in varying degrees, some seriously, in the incident that took place yesterday on the road between El Fasher and Tawila. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the travelers were moving in three cars toward El Fasher when gunmen opened fire on the convoy and then looted all the travelers’ possessions. The people had receipts from the Mawasir scam – a type of money voucher that turned out to be fraudulent – and were planning to open communications to recover their rights. The injured were taken to El Fasher hospital to receive treatment.
