The Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs of the provinces of South and West Darfur have reneged on commitments to provide services and means of production to returnees from Kalma camp. The services were promised as part of a ‘voluntary repatriation’ framework agreed upon three months ago by the government and the returnees. Abdel Moneim Mussa Ahmed, one of the members of the voluntary return committees of West Darfur, told Radio Dabanga that officials of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in West Darfur have refused to offer any aid to those who have returned from Kalma Camp to their home areas in Garsila. The ministry was to provide shelter, education and health services, water, livestock, grain mills, and water generators. He added that they told him that his mission ended once he had persuaded the displaced people to return.
