Representatives of displaced people in North Darfur set pre-conditions for their participation in the Third Darfur Civil Society Forum in Doha which is set for the end of this month.

The conditions included releasing all the detained displaced people, providing freedom in movement and expression, security and allowing organizations to continue with their work in providing aid.

The coordinator of displaced people’s camps in North Darfur told Radio Dabanga that they have received invitations from the UNAMID to participate but they have declined and set the conditions of freeing detainees and other demands.

The coordinator stated that the decisions of the first and second forums were not implemented and pointed out that five leaders from Abu Shouk camp were still being held prisoners for two years with no charges directed at them. He also added that the second forum led to bloodshed among the displaced people in Kalma and Hamidiya camps.
