Dar es Salaam chiefs petition governor to disband militias

A committee comprised of several civil administration chiefs and dignitaries from Dar Es Salam Locality in North Darfur raised a memo to the governor of North Darfur about the militia attacks in the region.

A committee comprised of several civil administration chiefs and dignitaries from Dar Es Salam Locality in North Darfur raised a memo to the governor of North Darfur about the militia attacks in the region. The committee wants the governor to solve the problems lately facing the areas East Jebel Marra, Shangil Tobaya, and Dar elsalam.

The head of the committee, Ibrahim Abdullah Ibrahim, told Radio Dabanga that the memo insisted on the necessity of dissolving the local militias that have been formed and the reconstruction of the villages that were burnt.

They also want the relocation of the citizens back to their areas before the rainy season. The memo demanded the rehabilitation of the water supplies, schools, hospitals and enhancing the social network between the areas. Ibrahim also added that the survey that they carried out in those areas revealed the abandonment and the burning down of 36 villages completely and the destruction of all the water supplies.
