Chad authorities bar Sudan students from taking exams over border -source

Chadian authorities prevented Sudanese refugees living in camp Kounongou, in the eastern part of the country, from crossing the border back home to take primary level examinations, a school headmaster says. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Abdurrahman Babiker Abbekar disclosed his school has been facing problems concerning the transition of eighth grade students to high school since 2004 despite having the support of organizations working at the camp.   This led parents to start sending their children to Sudan since last year so that they could take their exams. However, Chadian authorities detained some of the pupils in Gereida as they traveling to Sudan claiming “security reasons”, the headmaster said.Abbekar added he was arrested along with another teacher as they were trying to free the students in Gereida.
