Central Darfur Governor halts ‘blood money’ payments

The Central Darfur Governor has issued a decision halting government payment of any ‘blood money’ to any party that commits a murder during armed clashes between tribes.

Governor Jaafar Abdelhakam said that his government will not be committed to pay any blood money to any party that commits a murder in the state.

Also he stressed that there will be no dialogue between the citizens and the government regarding compensation or blood money anymore.

The Governor also issued a decision instructing all localities and Ministries to deliver all the funds collected to the finance treasury and to refrain from setting money aside.

He ordered that incentives and allowances should be distributed according to the law.
