Bashir releases 60; Darfuri students still captive

Reliable sources told Radio Dabanga that President Bashir issued a resolution in the Parliament to release 60 detainees on Tuesday. However, the decree does not include several Darfuri students, who are still, for the majority, huddled in various Sudanese prisons. The detained include the Omdas: Hussein Isaac Sago, Adam Harun Idris, Abualbashr Ali Ahmed, Adam Yahia Dualbet, Mohammad Tibin do al Noor; the Sheikh Ahmed Abbas, and Abdul Abdullah Razek. About 17 people are still held captive. The head of defense, lawyer Adam Baker, said that none of his clients from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) had been released. He told the Radio that none of the captive students had been offered a trial so far, despite the prolonged duration of their captivity.
