AUHIP roadmap and Unamid exit from Darfur on Khartoum agenda

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdelghani El Naeem, held a meeting his office with Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, Joint Special Representative for Darfur and Head of the Unamid mission for peacekeeping in Darfur on Wednesday.

According to the Sudanese state news agency (SUNA), the meeting discussed efforts for realizing peace in Darfur.

Undersecretary El Naeem referred to the AUHIP Roadmap, prepared by the African Union High-level Implementation Panel, signed by Sudan government, and rejected by the opposition. He said that the roadmap document will support peace and provide opportunities for development in Darfur.

The meeting affirmed the importance of reactivating the existing mechanisms in a manner which help Unamid to perform its duties properly, and achieving a strategy for easy and gradual exit of Unamid from Sudan.
