On Wednesday, the doctors at El Gedaref Hospital entered into a strike in protest an attack on a woman doctor by a relative of one of the patients.

El Gedaref doctors’ committee said in a statement that the strike concerns non-urgent cases such as adjusted clinic hours and scheduled operations, while work will continue in the emergency room and the morning and evening shifts in the sections of the wards.

They say they will only lift the strike once the hospital administration responds to their demands to improve the working environment to avoid attacks on doctors, which disrupts the work and harms doctors and the patients alike.

El Gezira

The doctors at El Hasahisa Hospital in El Gezira state entered a strike in all the departments for critical and cold cases in protest against  repeated attacks on doctors, amounting to five attacks in one week, this in addition to the poor working environment and the lack of services to be provided to the patients.

They conditioned lifting the strike with the completion and maintenance of the emergency section.
