Army accuses movements of looting residents

The Sudanese army has accused a group affiliated with the Justice and Equality Movement of an attack in Um Ajaja in East Darfur and looting property from residents on Saturday. Army spokesman Al Sawarmi Khaled Saad denied that the army had clashed with JEM and said the movement also stole equipment belonging to a construction company building a road in the region. However JEM denied looted residents in Um Ajaja and said the movement entered and captured control of the area, taking over 20 army vehicles loaded with weaponry and supplies.SLM-MM accused of stealing ambulanceIn North Darfur the authorities accused a group belonging to the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minawi of stealing an ambulance belonging to the local hospital in Dar El Salaam. A local official told the state owned Sudan news agency that the ambulance was stolen while carrying a woman in need of assistance during a difficult birth, leaving her behind on the roadside. He said  the group was traveling in three Land Cruiser trucks on their way to El Fasher, when the armed men threatened the ambulance driver forcing him to pull over. The SLM-MM denied any links to this accusation and said this was part of a smear campaign to distort the image of the movement an resistance forces in Darfur.
