A displaced man was abducted near Sortony camp in Kabkabiya locality on Wednesday, where bandits have hijacked a vehicle carrying school equipment.

Gunmen, reportedly six, riding camels attacked the displaced Abdeljabar Adam Imam while he was tilling his farm on Wednesday. They abducted him at gunpoint, a displaced woman reported to Radio Dabanga.

In another incident that day, bandits on two motorcycles hijacked a vehicle that carried school materials from Kabkabiya to Malaga area. They have demanded SDG150,000 ($22,790) for the return of the vehicle and materials.

In Central Darfur, a displaced man was shot by two armed robbers near a camp north of Nierteti. The attackers stole Mohamed Adam Ahmed's money, mobile phone and donkey. A Sheikh in the camp reported that Ahmed is severely wounded.

Markets closed

Four markets in West Darfur have remained closed because of the deteriorated security situation, the coordinator of the camps in Sirba locality told this station.

“They have been closed for nearly two weeks,” he said, pointing to the gathering of large crowds of people. Last Tuesday, a group of gunmen attacked Buri and Junga villages in Sirba.

“The local authorities have not responded to our appeals to maintain the security and protect them.”
