The Secretariat of Student affairs at the University of Nyala, capital of South Darfur, has formed a disciplinary committee to censure 12 students. The students are accused of making a speech at the University holding the Government responsible for the killings, rapes, and robberies against the displaced in the region, targeting innocent civilians using pro- government militiamen.

A student told Radio Dabanga that the Secretariat will hold a hearing for Mohammed Eisa Osman, Mohammed Hamid Mohammed, Yousif Mohammed Ali Shaarani, Hashim Adam Bahar, Mohammed Adam Mousa, Abdul Karim Abakar Mousa, Mohammed Abdullah Omar Yaqoub, Mohammed Khamis Douda, Um Elnas Dawood Abdullah, Haitham Abdul Karim Musa Bosh, Sabri Mohamed Ahmed and El Amin Ishag Hassan on Sunday.

He condemned the Secretariat's decision, which he said, is representing an arm of the security apparatus inside the University, by carrying out its instructions and guidance. He described what happened as a violation of the students’ rights and the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution.

The student said it is expected that the Committee might issue a warning to the students or might dismiss them for a specific period.
