Seven Darfuris in court after 7 months jail for alleged collaboration with Radio Dabanga

Seven Darfuris were taken to court on Thursday in central Khartoum, under a complaint filed by the government against them for alleged collaboration with Radio Dabanga. They had spent more than seven months under arrest in Kober Prison.

Seven Darfuris were taken to court on Thursday in central Khartoum, under a complaint filed by the government against them for alleged collaboration with Radio Dabanga. They had spent more than seven months under arrest in Kober Prison. A member of the defense committee, the lawyer Mohammed Abdulla Al Duma, told Radio Dabanga that the committee was informed of the trial in Central Khartoum Court yesterday morning.  He stated that the court postponed the first hearing with the suspects until the 21 June to listen to the case of the suspects. Al Duma, the head of the Darfur Lawyers’ Association, said that he expected a huge number of lawyers to attend the next session. He added that the defense team is divided into four defense committees with the main coordinator being Mustafa Abdul Gadir.

He also stated that the seven suspects are: Abdul Rahman Adam Abdul Rahman, Jaafar Al Sabki, Kauther Abdul Haq, Adam Nour, Zakaria Yagoub, the lawyer Abdul Rahman El Gasim and Khalid Ishaq.
