Employees seek compensation for loss of jobs

Employees in civil service positions, created by the Darfur Transitional Authority will lose their jobs due to the new formation of the Darfur Regional Authority, created under the Doha Document for Peace. Mubarak Hamid Durbin, former general secretary of the Transitional Authority told Radio Dabanga that 1,558 staff members are not having their positions renewed in the new authority. There are also 3,000 ex-combatants that were never integrated into the military, at the signing of the Abuja Agreement in 2005 that forged the Transitional Authority. Durbin said that the new arrangement holds only 500 positions, which must go to different players that signed the Doha agreement. The old employees wish to seek compensation if they are not offered jobs, to continue to support their families.
