Journalists condemn torture and shaving head of women journalist by NISS
A statement issued by the Sudanese Network of Journalists on Wednesday November 7, strongly condemns the detention and ill-treatment of woman journalist Somaya Ismail Ibrahim Handoussa by the National Intelligence and Security services, Radio Dabanga has learned.The network denounces the racist comments made by members of the security apparatus towards the journalist and described the incident as ‘humiliating and degrading’, ‘first of its kind; shaving her head and burning sensitive parts of her body, we are shocked’, the statement read.Furthermore, the Network calls on human rights organizations to pressure the Government of Sudan to have the case investigated by an independent commission and to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay.Photos: Hurriyat Sudan (07 November 2012)Related content: ‘Female journalist beaten in NISS detention’ (05 November 2012)

The network denounces the racist comments made by members of the security apparatus towards the journalist and described the incident as ‘humiliating and degrading', 'first of its kind; shaving her head and burning sensitive parts of her body, we are shocked', the statement read.
