Displaced people arrested in West, Central Darfur

Sudan’s security apparatus arrested five displaced people in Sirba camp, West Darfur, and took them to their offices in Sirba last Tuesday. A displaced man in the Nierteti camps was also arrested on Saturday. It remains unclear what the men are charged with. Three members of the National Intelligence and Security apparatus (NISS) raided the homes of five men in Sirba camp on Tuesday, the spokesman for the camps in the West Darfur locality told Radio Dabanga. They arrested the five and brought them to the NISS offices in Sirba. “The displaced were not even told what they were charged with,” the spokesman said. He said that the NISS released Dhaka Abdelaziz Mohamed again on Saturday. However, Mohamed Ishag Yahya, Abkar Turbo Ahmed, Yahya Ahmed Chertai, and Abakar Mansour are still in custody. The spokesman demanded from the government to release them or to bring them to court immediately. Nierteti displaced arrested The military intelligence of Sudan arrested a displaced man in Central Darfur’s Nierteti camps on Saturday. A relative of the arrested Faisal Fadl Juma from Nierteti told Radio Dabanga that military personnel raided his house before arresting him. Juma was taken straight to the shelter in the military garrison in Nierteti. The relative said that he feared that the military will torture Faisal, or treat him badly. He appealed to the Sudanese authorities and human rights organisations for their involvement in the case and to release Juma.
