Sudan’s police seize lion cubs from smugglers in Khartoum

Sudan’s customs service raided a house in Khartoum state after receiving information about smuggling activities in Blue Nile state.

Sudan’s Directorate of Anti-Smuggling at the Customs Service has arrested men accused of smuggling lion cubs.

The lion cubs were found when police raided a house in one of the neighbourhoods of Khartoum. They were following-up on information about the suspects' activities in Baluth area in Blue Nile state.

Maj. Gen. Bashir El Tahir Bashir, Director of the Directorate of Anti-Smuggling, told the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) that the anti-smuggling forces will remain vigilant, for whatever threatens the national economy.

He further said the forces are deployed along the border in order to detect all types of smuggling and reduce the smugglers’ activities through information-gathering and serious follow-ups.
