At least 14 Darfuri students at the University of East Kordofan were injured, and 17 others arrested, after a protest meeting was held on Monday.

A student at University of East Kordofan at Abu Jubeiha told Radio Dabanga that for more than three years, the faculty administration has prevented students of Darfur from forming a cultural and social association without justification, prompting them to demonstrate outside the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

He explained that security forces and police broke-up the demonstrations using excessive violence.

He said the police refused to give the injured students Form 8 which prompted the hospitals to refuse to treat them.
