Red Sea state officials arrested on corruption charges

The Red Sea state Public Prosecution arrested 15 state officials on charges of financial and administrative corruption and waste of public funds on Wednesday. The Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prosecution is investigating the sale of university lands.
Among the officials charged are former state Minister of Finance Emad El Hussein, Ministry of Finance director Mohamed Ahmed, a number of employees of the Ministry, and the former Commissioner of Suakin locality.
The arrests came after a complaint was filed against them concerning the misuse of power generators in Suakin locality.
After interrogation, they were transferred to the Port Sudan National Prison.

Land case

The Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prosecution in Khartoum summoned the Vice President of the University of Khartoum on Wednesday.

An investigation committee questioned him concerning the sale of agricultural lands belonging to the university.

The Prosecution has charged a former Khartoum state minister and an engineering consultant with owning 42 plots of university land.
