The co-hosts and participants of the Third International Conference on Sudan<\/a>, held in Berlin on April 15, today reaffirmed their \u201cguiding principles for a peaceful and durable resolution of this conflict\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a press statement<\/a> published today, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and high representatives of the States and international and regional organizations who assembled in Berlin \u2013 the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States of America as co-hosts, as well as Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Norway, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia, South Sudan, Switzerland, Tchad, T\u00fcrkiye, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, the United Nations (UN), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the League of Arab States (LAS) \u2013 reaffirm their guiding principles for a peaceful and durable resolution of this conflict\u201d, in line with the Quad Joint Statement, the African Union Roadmap and Resolutions, and relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions on Sudan.<\/p>\n\n\n

The conference did not succeed in achieving a truce or cessation of hostilities. Following the conclusion of the conference, in which some 40 political and civilian figures took part, but Sudan\u2019s warring parties were notably absent<\/a>, representatives of co-hosts issued a joint statement<\/a> pledging \u20ac1.5bn, including \u20ac750mn from the European Union and its Member States, \u201cto respond to humanitarian needs in Sudan and neighbouring countries who continue to take in large numbers of people seeking refuge within their borders\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n
