The report alleges that the soldiers were drawn into the ongoing conflict through a cross-border operation involving four countries, chiefly spearheaded by the United Arab Emirates.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lasillavacia.com\/silla-nacional\/me-quiero-devolver-hay-mas-de-300-exmilitares-colombianos-en-la-guerra-de-sudan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to the original report<\/a>, the operation involved Colombian ex-soldiers being recruited under false pretences by the Colombian company, International Services Agency A4SI (Academy for Security Instruction), with promises of securing oil infrastructure in the UAE. Instead, they were transported to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/sudanese-refugees-in-libya-continue-to-struggle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Libya<\/a>\u00a0via Dubai or Abu Dhabi, where they were handed over to representatives of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/sudan-s-rsf-militia-denies-involvement-in-libya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Libya<\/a>\u00a0served as a staging ground, with mercenaries housed in Benghazi before being covertly transported across the border into Sudan, via desert routes over eight days, to fight alongside the RSF in operations around\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/report-north-darfur-capital-being-reduced-to-rubble\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">El Fasher<\/a>, the capital of North Darfur, where three were killed during fighting in October. The family of one deceased soldier confirmed his death, adding that shelling had caused heavy casualties among their ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation highlights a transnational network spanning Colombia, the UAE, Libya, and Sudan, involving private security firms, paramilitary groups, and alleged backing from the UAE, a key player accused of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/us-politicians-aim-to-block-uae-arms-deal-over-sudan-links\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supporting the RSF<\/a>\u00a0in violation of international arms embargoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A video circulating on social media, shows members of the *Joint Forces, made up of Sudanese Armed Forces-aligned insurgents, presenting documents and ID cards allegedly belonging to Colombian mercenaries. These forces claimed the mercenaries had travelled from Libya to fight alongside the RSF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW: The Sudanese army seized a large amount of military equipment belonging to foreign (Colombian) mercenaries in the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during an operation in the Sudan-Libya-Chad border triangle. <br><br>During the operation, identity cards, passports and\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pZyyaRXRxq\">pic.twitter.com\/pZyyaRXRxq<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Clash Report (@clashreport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/clashreport\/status\/1860182901679079600?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 23, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Joint Forces reportedly ambushed a logistics convoy from Libya, capturing several Colombian soldiers and killing others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>La Silla Vac\u00eda<\/em>\u00a0state that 40 of these soldiers were sent to Sudan under false pretences, with one soldier stating in an audio recording that their contract described a completely different assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fears are mounting among some Colombian troops that refusal to fight alongside the RSF could result in their execution, the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation draws parallels with a 2020 incident involving the UAE-based Black Shield Security Services Company, which allegedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/young-sudanese-lured-to-libya-return-to-khartoum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lured Sudanese recruits<\/a>\u00a0into security work, only to deploy them to Libya to fight under the Libyan National Army Commander, Khalifa Haftar, guarding oil refineries and strategic locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Alleged UAE links\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAE\u2019s alleged involvement is highlighted, with the news site citing previous instances of Emirati forces\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/11\/26\/world\/middleeast\/emirates-secretly-sends-colombian-mercenaries-to-fight-in-yemen.html#:~:text=Emirates%20Secretly%20Sends%20Colombian%20Mercenaries%20to%20Yemen%20Fight,-Share%20full%20article&amp;text=WASHINGTON%20%E2%80%94%20The%20United%20Arab%20Emirates,the%20United%20States%20and%20Iran.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deploying Colombian mercenaries<\/a>, including during the Yemen war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colombian soldiers reportedly signed confidentiality agreements with the Global Security Services Group, described as the UAE\u2019s first licensed armed security company. They were promised monthly salaries of $2,600 for soldiers and $3,400 for non-commissioned officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company reportedly aims to deploy between 1,500 and 1,800 Colombian soldiers in Sudan, according to the soldiers\u2019 testimonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Colombian Foreign Ministry has refused to comment on the repatriation of bodies of three soldiers killed in October, the report says. Radio Dabanga were also unable to obtain a response from the RSF regarding these claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/sudan-general-accuses-mafia-state-emirates-of-supplying-rsf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sudanese Armed Forces<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/uk-activists-accuse-arsenal-f-c-of-sportswashing-sudan-over-uae-ties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">activists<\/a>, and various stakeholders have accused the UAE of fuelling Sudan\u2019s conflict by supplying weapons to the RSF, a claim supported by UN monitors but repeatedly denied by the UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the UN Security Council\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/uae-objects-to-unsc-over-spurious-accusations-by-sudan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">9,611th meeting<\/a>\u00a0in April, Sudan\u2019s Permanent Representative, El Harith Idriss Mohamed, directly alleged UAE involvement. In response, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/biden-and-harris-raise-sudan-issue-with-uae-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UAE<\/a>\u00a0dismissed the accusations and evidence as \u201cbaseless allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAE\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/uae-grants-20-million-for-sudan-war-victims-again-denies-supplying-arms-to-rsf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted to supplying arms<\/a>\u00a0to the RSF before the outbreak of the war, but denies sending any arms after April 15, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This development adds another layer to Sudan\u2019s complex conflict, raising further questions about the international dimensions of the war and exact extent of the UAE\u2019s alleged involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>*\u00a0<em>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/new-security-forces-for-darfur-as-juba-peace-agreement-is-slowly-implemented\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Darfur Joint Force<\/a>\u00a0was formed in June 2022, as agreed on in the 2020 Juba Peace Agreement (JPA), to protect the people in the region. The force was made up of fighters of the Sudan Liberation Movement faction headed by Darfur Governor Minni Minawi (SLM-MM), the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/minawis-sudan-liberation-movement-to-fight-alongside-army\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">JEM faction<\/a>\u00a0led by Finance Minister Gibril Ibrahim (JEM-GI), and several small rebel groups that signed the JPA. These movements\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/armed-movements-renounce-neutrality-in-sudan-war\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">renounced their neutrality<\/a>\u00a0in November last year and are now fighting the RSF alongside the Sudanese army. Since then, Sudanese media speak about the Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements, while the group\u2019s logo on their X and Facebook accounts says\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/north-darfur-joint-force-seizes-strategic-areas-zaghawa-and-arab-leaders-sign-accord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sudanese Joint Force<\/a>\u00a0(and in Arabic Sudanese Joint Forces).<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"sws_supernormalaction\"><button on=\"tap:superwebshare-lightbox\" class=\"superwebshare_normal_button1 superwebshare-button-large superwebshare-button-square superwebshare_prompt superwebshare_button_svg\" style=\"color:#ffffff;background-color: #d52631;\" ><svg
