A woman was killed and eight others were injured in Abu Shouk camp for displaced people, during artillery shelling of El Fasher today, according to credible reports reaching Radio Dabanga from the capital of North Darfur.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intense fighting between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has made access to El Fasher virtually impossible for aid, humanitarian, and news organisations, and last week, a World Health Organisation (WHO) statement etimates that approximately 800,000 people are trapped<\/a> in El Fasher , suffering from a lack of food, water, and medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In statement today, the Abu Shouk Camp Emergency Room say that Buseina Saleh was killed as a result of artillery shelling by the RSF. At least eight other people were injured in the barrage. Several homes within the camp were also destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest shelling adds to the woes of the residents of Abou Shouk camp, that has suffered extensive damage from rain and floods, including the destruction of at least 18 homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emergency room adds that many of the displaced do not have blankets or tarpaulins to protect them from the rain. Rese include seniors, disables people, women, and many children under the age of five in shelter centres.<\/p>\n
