Consultative sessions aimed at reaching an end to the war in Sudan concluded in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, on Monday. In attendance were several Sudanese political and civil blocs, a delegation of which met with South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moataz El Fahl, a leader in the Forces for Freedom and Change-Democratic Bloc (FFC-DB) and Secretary-General of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), told Dabanga in an interview that the meeting concluded with the \u201cformation of a mini-mechanism for communication with the Sovereignty Council, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and other political and civil forces\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting included several political and civil blocs, most notably the FFC-DB, the National Movement Forces coalition, and the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N Agar), led by Sovereignty Council Vice President Malik Agar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe outlined vision for achieving peace and democratic transition stresses the need to achieve a long-term ceasefire, to conduct broad preliminary consultations on managing the transitional period, and to prepare for an intra-Sudanese dialogue\u201d, El Fahl explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dialogue agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vision put forward 12 items on the dialogue agenda, the most prominent of which are: \u201cThe formation of the transitional government, the reform of military, security and civil institutions, preparations for a conference on transitional justice and national reconciliation, and holding perpetrators of war crimes and genocide accountable\u201d, according to the FFC-DB leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also addressed compensation for those affected by the war, and the establishment of a special negotiating platform for eastern Sudan<\/a> \u201cthat includes all parties without exclusion in accordance with the outcomes of the Cairo summit<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mechanism will begin presenting the outcomes to the political and civil forces \u201cwithout exception or exclusion\u201d, until it reaches a consensus to stop the war, El Fahl added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was careful to point out that the outcome \u201cdid not to include any condemnation of any party in the war because it aims to reach a solution, move forward, and listen to all parties\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Golden team\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following a meeting<\/a> between an FFC-DB delegation and the Deputy Foreign Minister of South Sudan Ramadan Goc, the delegation met with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit, in the capital Juba, on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Fahl said the president \u201cexpressed regret about what is happening currently in Sudan and stressed his keenness to reach a solution\u201d during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a post on X<\/a> yesterday, Darfur Governor Minni Minawi praised President Mayardit and his \u201cgolden team\u201d for their efforts, and said they \u201cdiscussed the road map for a solution that facilitates national dialogue\u201d.<\/p>\n
