Activists report that the inhabitants of the Hasaheisa camp in Central Darfur have been encircled by fighting between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the last two weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson for the Displaced Persons and Refugees Camps Coordination, Adam Rijal, told Radio Dabanga on Friday that the camp is \u201cblocked from all directions, and there is no access to the surrounding roads\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the fighting between the SAF and RSF since April, \u201chas led to the deaths of 130 martyrs and 200 injured people in the camp\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rijal stated that the displaced were deprived of accessing food supplies, which led to a rise in food prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe price of a pound of sugar reached SDG1800, a bottle of oil now costs SDG2500, and the price of sorghum reached SDG4000\u201d, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He appealed to international organisations to intervene and provide humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson welcomed this week’s UN Human Rights Council decision to form an investigation committee<\/a> into the violations that have occurred since the war broke out in April, and called on both the warring parties to allow the UN mission to conduct its verification and investigation activities.<\/p>\n
