Sudan\u2019s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Friday claimed its forces have taken complete control of Central Darfur, where heavy clashes with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) took place in the past few weeks in the state\u2019s capital of Zalingei.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a video posted on the official social media channels of the RSF, Maj Ali Yagoub accused the SAF\u2019s 21st Division of \u201cusing the displaced as human shields\u201d after they reportedly \u201cwithdrew their forces into the *camps for the displaced\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maj Yagoub stated this constitutes a \u201cmajor crime\u201d and vowed to \u201cmove from Zalingei<\/a> to Khartoum\u201d to defeat the armed forces, who he claims are controlled by the remnants of the former regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the video, he also named the SAF\u2019s high command, Lt Gen Shamseldin Kabbashi and Lt Gen Yasir El Atta<\/a>, as the architects responsible for Sudan\u2019s prolonged war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RSF commander also went on to state that contrary to the SAF\u2019s statements, their forces did not sustain heavy casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the current situation, it is not possible for Radio Dabanga to independently verify the RSF claims. Many posts on social media did report that the RSF is in control of Zalingei<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Zalingei\u2019s camps shelter many displaced belonging to ethnic groups<\/a> that have been historically targeted by militant Arab<\/em><\/em> tribesmen, of whom many joined the RSF.<\/em><\/p>\n
