datetime=\"2023-06-12T10:48:43+02:00\">12\/06\/2023<\/time><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Army soldiers in Khartoum are reportedly targeting young Misseriya tribesmen as they consider them supporters of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). <\/strong><strong>According to t<\/strong><strong>he <\/strong><strong>Sudanese <\/strong><strong>Combating Violence Against Women Unit<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>the rape <\/strong><strong>cases registered by the unit \u201crepresent only two per cent of the actual numbers\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A young Misseriya was shot dead by army soldiers in Abu Hamama, Khartoum, on May 20 after they asked him about his tribal background, Hayat Tahrirelsham told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because many RSF soldiers have been recruited from the Misseriya and Rizeigat tribes in the western and southern parts of Sudan, members of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) consider all these tribesmen as \u201csupporters of the enemy,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two other young Misseriya tribesmen were seized by army soldiers in Omdurman and taken to an unknown destination in separate incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a press statement yesterday, the Darfur Bar Association (DBA) condemned \u201cthe targeting, killing, and detention\u201d of young Misseriya \u201carbitrarily suspected of supporting the RSF\u201d in the country\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawyers warned of the negative effects of \u201cthe systematic targeting of members of the Misseriya tribe,\u201d and called for the immediate release of the detainees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rapes and abductions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Combating Violence Against Women Unit at the Ministry of Social Affairs reported in a press release on Saturday that it recorded 12 new rape cases in the Sudanese capital, \u201cbringing the cases of sexual violence documented by us to 36 cases in Khartoum only\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unit has also received increased reports of abductions and gang rapes in Khartoum targeting girls between 12 and 17 years old. \u201cReporters of most incidents point their fingers to armed men wearing RSF uniforms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men wearing RSF uniforms have also been targeting the homes of Eritrean and Ethiopian refugee women in Omdurman and Khartoum North (Khartoum Bahri).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/accounts-of-rape-increase-in-war-torn-sudan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cases documented<\/a> by the Combating Violence Against Women Unit \u201crepresent only two per cent of the actual numbers of cases of sexual violence in Khartoum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No new information has been obtained from Darfur, the unit said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Radio Dabanga reported last month that since the armed conflict between the SAF and RSF broke out on April 15, forces of the warring parties are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/detentions-and-raids-continue-in-sudan-capital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">detaining activists and volunteers<\/a> in Khartoum.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"sws_supernormalaction\"><button on=\"tap:superwebshare-lightbox\"
