{"id":20028505,"date":"2023-02-05T15:43:14","date_gmt":"2023-02-05T14:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/?p=20028505"},"modified":"2024-05-17T11:44:38","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T09:44:38","slug":"eastern-sudan-beja-nazirs-adarob-faction-disavow-both-ffc-blocs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/eastern-sudan-beja-nazirs-adarob-faction-disavow-both-ffc-blocs","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Eastern Sudan Beja Nazirs Adarob faction \u2018disavow both FFC blocs\u2019<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-6c531013 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p><strong>KHARTOUM &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:700;\" class=\"wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2023-02-05T15:43:14+01:00\">05\/02\/2023<\/time><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The eastern Sudanese High Council of Beja Nazirs and Independent Chieftains faction led by Ibrahim Adarob announced its disavowal of any central bloc, in particular the mainstream Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC-Central Council) and the recently established FFC-Democratic Block.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement on Friday, the faction\u2019s political secretary and official spokesperson Sayed Abu Amna accused \u201call traditional and modern national power centres and institutions of deliberately excluding the Beja people, Beja Council, and all other people in the region from all the political processes that are taking place\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adarob\u2019s faction repeated its rejection of the Eastern Sudan Track protocol in the Juba Peace Agreement (JPA), while \u201cthe two FFC blocs both have accepted the protocol\u201d. The statement further warned of \u201cattempts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/eastern-sudans-adarob-faction-of-the-beja-nazirs-council-refuses-invitation-to-join-upcoming-negotiations\">exploit the eastern Sudanese<\/a> problems in Khartoum\u201d, adding that any plans to break up the Beja Nazirs Council \u201cwill backfire on the security and stability of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The High Council of Beja Nazirs and Independent Chieftains <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/beja-council-split-anti-tirik-group-announces-preparations-for-self-determination-of-eastern-sudan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">witnessed a rift<\/a> last year, when a faction opposed to Hadendowa Beja Nazir and Council President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/beja-council-freezes-the-resignation-of-its-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sayed Tirik<\/a>, made their own plans and joined the Forces for Freedom and Change-Democratic Bloc (FFC-DB) in early <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/eastern-sudan-new-deputy-chair-appointment-deepens-rift-between-beja-nazirs\">December last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, both factions have been calling for the cancellation of the Eastern Sudan Track protocol of the Juba Peace Agreement (JPA) and threatened to decide on self-determination for the region if Khartoum would not comply with their demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eastern Sudan Track<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rebel leader and Sovereignty Council member El Hadi Idris, stated that not even one per cent of the Eastern Sudan Track agreement has been implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Idris called on the protocol\u2019s objectors to communicate their views in the conference on governance in eastern Sudan, that will soon be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dabangasudan.org\/en\/all-news\/article\/au-igad-un-trilateral-mechanism-to-organise-conferences-on-juba-peace-agreement-and-eastern-sudan-track\">organised by the AU-IGAD-UNITAMS Trilateral Mechanism<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding calls to annul the Eastern Sudan Track protocol, Idris told Radio Dabanga that \u201cthis is not possible, because it is part and parcel of the JPA, and if a part of this agreement is cancelled, this means that the entire agreement is cancelled\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The signatories to the Framework Agreement are committed to an evaluation of the protocol and any of points of contention \u201cwill be addressed through the conference,\u201d he told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany people criticise the agreement without having seen it. Others do not look at the gains but only care for the puppets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protocol \u201cstipulates a focus on development and reconstruction of the region\u201d, saying that almost \u201c$300 million would be allocated annually for seven years for this purpose,\u201d Idris explained and underpinned some of the developmental strides the protocol could make, such as combatting safe water scarcity, particularly in the three eastern Sudanese states \u201cwhich need drastic improvement\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sws_supernormalaction\"><button on=\"tap:superwebshare-lightbox\"
