Abdullah Yousif, chairman of the committee, spoke through Radio Dabanga to call on the parties to reconcile. He urged them to listen to the voice of reason and submit their differences to arbitration. For his part, Mayor Adam Saleh, vice chairman of the committee, demanded that the government extend its authority over the troubled area. The Mahadi and Ta\u2019alba fought in Kass town on 14 April. Fourteen people died and parts of the town were burnt down. That conflict in turn may have led to fighting that began 20 April between the Sa\u2019ada and Abbala Rizeigat, in which approximately 100 tribesmen from both sides died.
