They were wounded in clashes with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in Deribat in the locality of East Jebel Marra. The army acknowledged it had suffered casualties yet added that it caused losses to the Justice and Equality Movement in the area of Jebel Adola, capturing dozens of military vehicles of the movement besides killing and wounding a number of JEM fighters. Al Sowarmi Khaled Saad, military spokesman, said this in an interview with Radio Dabanga. A JEM commander, Suleiman Sandal, said that the rebels won the fight.<!--break-->An apparently different clash occurred Monday, 31 May, when JEM claimed that it defeated a force of nearly 400 vehicles, including several tanks, north of Muhageria between Khazan Jadid and Shearia.&nbsp; The UN-African Union peacekeeping mission (UNAMID) reported the same day that the Sudanese armed forces clashed with JEM in Um Sauna area, northeast of El Daein town.
