Ahmed Hussein Adam, spokesman of the movement, told Radio Dabanga that this proposal came after the government has rejected the demands of the people of Darfur, pursuing instead on a policy of \u201cpeace from within\u201d. According to the new policy \u2013 as described by Ahmed Hussein \u2013 the government will attempt to force the displaced people to return to their destroyed villages. He stressed that the government started a new phase of the genocide against the inhabitants of the camps and planned to dismantle them, which can not be tolerated, he said. Since JEM began its armed rebellion in 2003, it has demanded a share of national power, not independence of Darfur.
